Ancestry.com has released a major new online database that should become a great resource for anyone researching U.K. or Irish genealogy.
To date, Ancestry.com's collection of genealogical databases have largely focused on U.S. records. Even with a U.S. emphasis on genealogical records though, Ancestry has quickly become the global leader in online family history. Because so many of us can trace our roots beyond the U.S., many Ancestry customers have asked us to start providing genealogical records from around the globe. We've listened, and in response we're proud to announce that Ancestry has launched a new data collection featuring high-quality and exclusive records from the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Two Web sites provide large-scale maps of areas in the United Kingdom, which can help researchers easily locate ancestral towns.
Believe it or not, there was a time when the phrase "dot com" was not part of the English language. Of course, there are many Internet addresses that do end in something other than ".com".
